Today after breakfast we visit the Cathedral of ZIPAQUIRA and the Laguna de GUATAVITA , as we depart from the hotel to begin a tour through the savannah of Bogota , to the city of Guatavita, visit the Lagoon of Guatavita Lagoon where you will have the opportunity to take a short hike. Continuing to visit Colombia's first wonder, the Zipaquira Salt Cathedral. Lunch at a local restaurant Zipaquira , whose name means "city of our Father" in the Chibcha language. In pre-Columbian times, salt springs were exploited in this region to produce "salt loaves", a strong currency with which the Muisca traded. Over time, technology changed and sinkholes began to be opened to extract larger quantities of salt. In these ancient underground galleries stands the Zipaquira? Salt Cathedral, 180 meters below the surface. There is a small miners' chapel in homage to the Virgin, Our Lady of the Rosary of Guasa? (this word means 'mine' in Chibcha) . Today after breakfast we check out of the hotel and procceed to board our flight to Pereira and the Salento coffee region. On arrival we check into our hotel and then proceed to experience the magic of coffee production at a traditional coffee farm, departing from Salento on an exciting Willys Jeep tour. The experience begins with a journey through lush landscapes and unique biodiversity, to understand the complex process of coffee, from the bean to the cup. Along the way, we'll delve into the secrets of the soils and cultivation techniques that make the coffee of this region so special. Today after breakfast we proceed to the Cocora Valley which is renowned for the Wax Palm, Colombia's national tree, which stands as the world's tallest (reaching up to 70 meters). The beauty of the landscape offers a delightful hike of up to 2 hours along mountain trails. You can have lunch either in the Cocora Valley or directly in Salento (decide at the time of your reservation). You will return to the town of Salento, the oldest municipality in the department, earning it the name 'Father of the Municipalities' as the first one founded. Famous for its colorful architecture and traditional atmosphere. Before returning to the accommodation, we will enjoy our unique Colombian indigenous sport 'Tejo,' practiced since the time of the Muisca people. It involves throwing metal discs called 'tejo' towards a target or 'bocin' located in the center of a clay platform, accompanied by a 'pola colombiana' (Colombian beer). Alternatively, you can choose to visit a small family where you will learn about their dream of transforming from a small artisanal chocolate factory into a chocolate industry. After lunch we continue to Pereira and visit the historic center of the city visiting the Plaza de Boli?var, the Cathedral, El Lago Park and the shopping streets where you can see the popular trade of the area. Transfer to visit the most representative bridges of the city such as the Cesar Gaviria Trujillo Viaduct and the Spiral Bridge. Photo stop at the Alto de Boquero at the CAU and tasting of Colombian specialty coffee. Visit to the residential area of Alamos, the pink area of Avenida Circunvalar with a stop at the Fonda La Ruana where we will have a tasting of typical liquors of the area.
